Employee Participation Conference
Employee Participation
Conference
The name
says it all. It's about getting employees more involved in
education and their workplaces. We hold this conference several
times a year to do just that.
Over the
course of five days, employees learn about NTC programs and
UAW and Chrysler history. More importantly, they tell
us how we can better meet their training needs. They tell
us about barriers they've faced in trying to go to school
while holding down a full-time job. They tell us how we can
help.
We listen.
And we develop or modify programs accordingly.
Small-group
discussions led by employees get participants thinking about
their personal and professional goals, or about becoming involved
in their local unions. Many become so fired up, they take
what they've learned back to their facilities to share with
other employees (which is what we hope will happen).
How
do I sign up?
If you
haven't already attended an Employee Participation Conference
and would like to, talk to a member of your Local Joint Training
Committee (your local union president, plant manager, shop
chair or personnel manager). They're responsible for selecting
individuals to attend.
Questions
on Employee Participation Conferences go to Brenda
Pryor or Dorothy
Jett-Carter at
the NTC.
