DETROIT – Chrysler Group LLC employees have until Wednesday, June 2 to submit entries for the 2010-2011 Artists at Work competition and exhibition.
The competition, sponsored by the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center, is open to UAW-represented and non-bargaining unit employees based in the U.S., including those who are temporarily working outside the country.
Family members, UAW-Chrysler retirees or Chrysler contract employees are not eligible to enter.
Entries must be original artwork, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, pottery, jewelry, blown glass, textiles or carving. The competition is not open to crafts, such as ceramics made from store-bought molds, models from kits, woodwork from patterns or needlework from patterns.

"Co-worker Tony," illustration by Rod Leisure, Kokomo (Ind.) Transmission Plant, UAW Local 685 (from the 2005-2006 exhibition). |
The first phase of judging is based on photographs of artwork submitted by an employee. An independent panel of experts from Detroit’s professional art community judges the entries.
Photographs of artwork along with entry forms must be submitted to Marilyn Finkel & Associates, 29260 Franklin Road #102, Southfield, MI 48034-1144, by the June 2 deadline.
A second phase of judging will determine first-, second- and third-place award winners and honorable mentions, based on an evaluation of the actual artwork selected for the exhibition.

All employees with work chosen for the new show will be guests of honor at an Opening Reception on Oct. 14 at the UAW-Chrysler Technology Training Center in Warren, Mich., which will host the exhibition for the first time.
The 2010-11 exhibition is the eighth coordinated by the National Training Center since the Artists at Work program began in 1999. It is the only juried art show of its kind in corporate America.
