AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – A Chrysler 300 "Haiti" edition, which was signed by hundreds of celebrities to raise money to help
earthquake victims, will be auctioned off this month. All profits will go to
the American Red Cross Haitian Relief Fund.
Since January 12, as many as 250,000 people in Haiti have lost their lives
due to the earthquake and many, many others remain injured and homeless, their
own lives at risk because of spreading disease and lack of medical care.
The one-of-a-kind vehicle donated by Chrysler
Group LLC will go on the block
Saturday, Feb. 20, during the Leake Auction Company’s annual collector
car auction in Oklahoma City.
In addition, Chrysler has donated six individually-customized Eco
Style Chrysler 300 luxury automobiles (unsurpassed in fuel economy
in their segment) to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to six celebrities’ designated
charities.

Singer Christina Aguilara was one of many celebrities
who signed on. |
The Eco Style design uses recycled
or sustainable materials, such as recycled rubber for the floor mats, bamboo
wood interior, 100 percent recycled metals, and includes a fuel efficiency
system that reduces the 8 cylinder engine to 4 cylinders when necessary.
"It’s our social responsibility to assist in any way we can to
help contribute to the relief efforts," said Olivier Francois, president
and CEO of the Chrysler brand. "Hundreds of celebrity signatures now
grace the exterior of the Chrysler 300 Haiti edition thanks to the actors and
actresses attending a recent red-carpet event, and we are hopeful the car will
raise a significant amount of money at auction."
"The celebrities, including Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Sophia
Loren and hundreds more were only too happy to assist the humanitarian crisis
in Haiti," said George Braunstein, co-founder of the non-profit Stars
For A Cause, which help coordinate the effort with Chrysler.
You can view the signing, which took place at last month’s Golden Globe
Awards, in the UAW-Chrysler in Motion video section of the NTC’s home
page.
"Our hearts go out to the people in Haiti. The devastation they have
suffered is unimaginable," said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake
Auction Company. "We are honored to work with Stars For A Cause and Chrysler
(and) are looking forward to raising money to help Haiti."
