Q&A has details of new CDI sales program

Employee Advantage

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Chrysler employees interested in being sales ambassadors for own their products may have questions about the new Certain Designated Individual (CDI) marketing program.

What customer information do I need to issue a CDI number? How big is the discount offered by the CDI program? What vehicles are eligible for the discount?

Answers to these and other questions can be found below to help employees participate in the sales initiative that began last week and continues through Sept. 30.

Under the program, U.S.-based employees and retirees can open the door for a person of their choosing to purchase or lease a new Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle at the employee price.

1. How do I obtain a CDI number for a prospective customer?
CDI numbers can only be obtained by eligible employees and retirees. The CDI numbers are obtained by going to the Chrysler Employee Advantage Web site at www.ea.chrysler.com (or just click the Employee Advantage button at top right on this page).

Once at the site, select your correct status – Chrysler employee, Chrysler retiree or Cerberus Capital Management employee – then input your Chrysler ID number, date of birth and corporate service date. After logging in, you will see a “Certain Designated Individual (CDI)” tag line on the left side of the page. Click the CDI tag line to reach the page to enter your customer information and receive your CDI number.

Note: For security reasons, the CDI tag line is only visible to eligible employees and retirees. If you login as an ineligible employee or retiree, the CDI tag line will not be visible to you.

If you are unable to access the Web site, call the Employee Advantage hotline at 1-800-756-2886 to obtain a control number.

2. What customer information do I need to issue a CDI number?

For a new customer who has not been previously registered, provide the following customer information:

  • first and last name
  • home address
  • date of birth

3. Who is eligible to receive a CDI number?

As a first priority, CDI numbers should be given to influential members or VIPs in your community and to those who are currently driving competitive vehicles and looking to purchase or lease a Chrysler LLC product. Secondarily, you may distribute your CDI number to whomever you so chose.

4. May I give my CDI number directly to a dealership or dealership employee for a future transaction?

No. Giving a CDI number directly to a dealership or a dealership employee is expressly prohibited. CDI numbers should only be given to prospective retail customers. Anyone who gives a CDI number directly to a dealership or dealership employee may receive a reprimand up to and including termination.

This new CDI program for employees and retirees will expire on Sept. 30. This includes using the number as well. So please be sure to use your number before that time. Dealers will not be able to accept a CDI number after that time.

The original CDI program for executives at grade bands 96 and above will remain in effect until Jan. 2, 2009.

The customer will incur a $200 processing fee for using this incentive.

9. Is the CDI program compatible with other incentives?

The CDI program is currently compatible with most other Chrysler incentive programs. Please check with your local Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer.

10. Is the CDI program available for use in Canada?

The CDI program is only available for use on vehicle purchases or leases in the United States. Canada participates in the Employee Choice program and does not currently participate in the CDI program.
