Milestone 10th Exhibition Celebrates Employees’ Creative Energy That Drives UAW-FCA Success

Since it began in 1999, Artists at Work has celebrated the diverse talents demonstrated by our employees in their personal lives as well as on the job, from the shop floor to executive offices. We are proud to continue recognizing creative employees by presenting Artists at Work 2016-2017, our 10th such exhibition and a milestone achievement for the UAW-Chrysler National Training Center.

This first-of-its-kind workplace recognition program has showcased more than 1,200 pieces of art by nearly 600 employees over the years.

The new exhibition is composed of 92 pieces in various media by 52 employees from 17 FCA US LLC facilities. Thirty-seven of the participants are UAW members and 15 are non-bargaining unit employees.

For the first time, artwork was evaluated using an expanded judging format. Three art professionals reviewed entries by medium in one of three categories: painting and drawing, mixed media and photography. Judges awarded 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place in each category, and then chose an overall winner as Best of Show.

The judges were Ernest F. Camel III, a Detroit artist and co-owner of Junction Hall Gallery in the city; Lois Teicher, a nationally-known sculptor who has taught at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, and Darlene Carroll, a fine arts consultant who formerly was Co-Director of the Lemberg Gallery in Ferndale, Mich.
